THE MADNESS OF THE METHODS
DVD Packaging Design
A commemorative series of DVDs specifically designed to support colleges and educational institutions for their permanent library collections. A total of four DVD packages were created to represent typography designers Erik Spiekermann, Albert-Jan Pool, Tobias Frere-Jones, and Laura Meseguer.
This DVD series is "The Madness of the Methods", which showcases typography designers and how they get from start to finish when creating a typeface. The front of the DVD case is a grid that represents the initial start of type designing. The grid is paired with crumpled paper representing that oftentimes, you will look back at previous work to make your next design choice. The purpose of these DVDs is to walk the viewers through the methods that each designer takes and to realize that every designer has their own process before ending with the result of a working typeface.
